Chapter 1 - Smells Like Recycled Spirit

I have been living in nonfiction for a long time, but I have a story that has been chewing at the back of my brain and I want to see what happens if I let it out. This is the first chapter of a new fiction project set on a failed Mars reality show that never really ended, it just stopped airing. I am sharing it with paid subscribers first because this is the group that already trusts me enough to follow the weirder experiments. Treat this as a test run of tone, pacing, and worldbuilding, not a finished product, and feel free to tell me where it hits and where it misses.
